Laura D. Allen, Ph.D.

Photo of Laura D. Allen, Ph.D. is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at The Ericskon School of Aging Studies at UMBCLaura D. Allen, Ph.D. is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate and Adjunct Instructor at the Erickson School of Aging Studies. She received her Ph.D. from Bar-Ilan University in Israel (2023), where she was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant recipient and early-stage researcher with the European Union Horizon 2020 Innovative Training Network EuroAgeism. Her doctoral research was on ageism and the long-term care setting, specifically the news media portrayals of residential long-term care. She was previously a U.S. Fulbright Scholar (2017-18) at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences, Zwolle, the Netherlands, conducting research on resident autonomy and long-term care administration. She graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration, a minor in gerontology, and a certificate in long-term care administration.
