CCIA Overview

The Center for Community, Innovation and Aging (CCIA) in the Erickson School of Aging Studies (ESAS) is a transformative hub for applied research, innovation, and community engagement. The CCIA is committed to enhancing the lives of older adults by driving evidence-based solutions, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and building sustainable partnerships. With a bold vision for the future, the CCIA integrates cutting-edge research and real-world applications to address the opportunities and challenges of aging.

Mission

The CCIA’s mission is to advance the field of aging through applied research, foster innovative models, and empower communities by leveraging their strengths. Guided by the principles of Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), the CCIA champions equity, cultural sensitivity, and practical solutions to ensure healthy and meaningful aging for all.

Core Focus Areas

Through interdisciplinary collaboration, the Center ensures that research addresses real-world challenges and delivers meaningful outcomes for individuals and communities.
  2. Community Engagement and Capacity Building
Using the ABCD framework, the CCIA collaborates with stakeholders to identify and mobilize local assets, empowering communities to co-create sustainable solutions that reflect their unique needs and priorities.
  3. Educational Excellence and Interdisciplinary Innovation
The CCIA supports ESAS faculty, staff, and students by fostering creative thinking, entrepreneurial approaches, and impactful training programs. The Center creates opportunities for participants to translate applied research into
