A Unique Program: Integrating Aging, Management, and Public Policy

The MAgS Program offers a curriculum that is interdisciplinary, weaving together key elements from the disciplines of management, public policy, and the study of human aging. This integration is what makes the program unique and powerful.

• With an integrated perspective that combines skills and knowledge from the three core disciplines, leaders creating and providing products, services, and policy for older adults will be better prepared to confront the challenges society faces.
• Students experience more powerful learning when they engage a topic in the context in which it exists, where understanding the interaction between subject areas is critical. The MAgS program deliberately and intensively explores the dynamic connections among disciplines, rather than merely teaching individual subject areas.
• Integration enables focus. Rather than broadly and generically training people for a career in a particular function (e.g., marketing) or general profession(e.g., law), the MAgS program prepares individuals specifically for a leadership career in established and emerging organizations addressing the needs of the growing aging demographic.

Master of Arts in the Management of Aging Services (MAgS) at a Glance

The Erickson School Master of Arts in the Management of Aging Services (MAgS) is a unique new program specifically designed to prepare leaders to meet the challenges and opportunities presented by an aging society. Unlike any other degree, it integrates the disciplines of aging, management, and public policy, providing students with a distinctive and transformational educational experience. Graduates will leave the program with the skills and knowledge to make a unique contribution to public, private, and non-profit organizations addressing the needs of an aging society.

The 15-month program is designed for individuals with demonstrated professional leadership experience who are interested in further developing their leadership capabilities and advancing or initiating careers in the public, private, and non-profit aging arena. The programs alternative schedule allows students to fully participate in all program activities, while minimizing disruption to their personal and professional lives. All students progress through the program as part of a single cohort, enabling them to build important relationships with their peers.
